These two images show how to find out about your Mac's Hardware
and Software. Links to user manuals are provided near the bottom
    of this handout.

This Mac has a 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor. The processor
is the heart of your Mac. The Memory is 4 GB of 1067 MHz DDR3.
Memory is short for Random Access Memory (RAM).

The Processor and the Memory, are primarily going to determine
whether your Mac runs fast or slow. Hard drives are also a factor
because of their access speed and health.

One more piece of information is the Operating System Version. On
this Mac it is 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard). Always keep your Operating
    System and Application up2date! Always!

  THE DESKTOP

The Mac Desktop, like a furniture destop, may be kept clean ready
for some new project, or like some, piled with things (icons),
such that one has to sort through to find this or that. There are
several good reasons not to clutter your Desktop unnecessarily.
One is that every icon is a running process that does take some
Processor time. Another is it gets hard to find stuff. I have seen
Desktops so cluttered that icons were on top of icons! It is so
easy to make folders and folders within folders to keep your stuff
    sorted and easy to find.
